Anthony has a master's degree in teaching and an active Oregon teaching license. His teaching endorsements are in Engineering Technology CTE (Career Technology Education) and Social Studies. He began working in public education after 25 years performing computer programming and technical design work for the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction industries.

Anthony previously volunteered as a Parks & Recreation Commissioner for the City of Bandon, and was a founding member of Friends of Bandon Parks and Recreation, a non-profit charity corporation. In the spring semester 2025, he served as the aide in Lisa's Title 1 Math classroom at Ocean Crest Elementary School in Bandon.
